| 1. Why "Stretching Postural®" ? Sports teachers and trainers teach many different sport disciplines in a minimum amount of time, in conditions which are rarely optimal. The level of the students vary a great deal, as much in their suppleness and muscle tone as for their mental and physical attitude. Therefore the work of the teacher must take into account the capacities and motivation of the individual. Everyone who teaches or practices a sport knows the importance of the warm-up and recovery period and their function for preventing injury and to lessen the build-up of fatigue. |

In this context the objectives of "Stretching Postural®" are: -to allow an increase in intra-muscular temperature, -to encourage circulation and our elimination of toxins, -to facilitate adequate breathing, -to make oneself aware of the different systems in place for controlling the body in order to improve their capacity to react and to make their actions and gestures more efficient. |
The postural muscles, the deepest muscles in the body, become stronger. Normally used unconsciously in everyday life, they are stimulated as a priority in "Stretching Postural®" through a process of progressive construction of muscular contractions and stretches.
The role of the stretches is to assure prevention of specific and sometimes debilitating tensions associated with practising a sport.
The knowledge of one's own body (le schema corporel-the corporel scheme) evolves us towards an understanding of how to, liberate energy at the opportune moment, and a more efficient way of moving.
The breathing control fights against stress and nervousness which often disturbs one's preparation and performance in sport.

The work of this discipline, which is exclusively static, offers the possibility of first recruiting the inner muscles used to hold the body i.e. the postural muscles. These muscles are rich in neuro-muscular spindles (micro-processors) and are permanently active: they are toned in rest and when being used.
Combined with an appropriate breathing technique, "Stretching Postural" allows one to discover the existence of postural muscles and it is trough this awareness of them that they are toned and improved.
The postural musculature prepares the body, guides it and serves as a support for the dynamic muscles so that an action or movement is well-chosen and precise.
By calling on the muscular fibres from the deep, inner muscles and those at the surface, "Stretching Postural"improves tonicity, suppleness and freedom of articulation.
The methodology is precise, as much during the entire session. The outcome of the posture depends of the placement and the correct employment of the method
The body is far from being a simple mechanism and this technique places equal importance on the psychological involvement for a psycho-physical approach.
4.Go further with "Stretching Postural©"
Jean-Pierre Moreau, founder of "Stretching Postural®", physio-therapist and trainer at L'Institut National des Sports (France) paved the way for the possibility to discover the importance of postural work, its theory and practice.
An organisation was set up after his death to continue the research, development and teaching of this technique.
The teachers are fully trained and give classes in many different organisations.
